The Nusrat Senior Secondary School was established under the Nusrat Jahan Scheme, which was initiated by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The foundation stone of the school was laid on May 4, 1970, by Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, the third Caliph (spiritual leader) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The Nusrat Jahan Scheme aims to promote education and healthcare in various countries, including The Gambia.

It was initiated by Hadrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad when he visited several West African countries. The announcement of the scheme was made when he was in the Gambia.
